And Kyle Anderson sucks ass. He is slower than Sheray Thomas. Those suck ass announcers couldn't stop talking about Anderson, and he's wayyyy over rated. Time will tell. Poythress will be the next AA. How is rated so low is bullshi!. He is top 5 for sure. I know this is an allstar game but he really looked slow as hell. I know people get paid to rank players, but I just don't see it.

My observations for the little time I watched, Shabazz has a hell of a motor and competative streak, its going to take an in your face coach to mentor and refine him some, MKG with better offense. As for any baggage, my bet the baggage isn't necessairily him and attitude, it mama/dad/family. Great fit for UK and Cal as Cal has no illusions about him not being a one and done. I actually think he would do well at Dook because K is storng, however K does not have that good a history with one and dones. His one and done this year showed little defensively or for team, Irving when he came back last year actually hurt the chemistry for Dook, not to say he isn't a hell of a player (obviously). UCLA, give me a break, defense is fine but his D is predicated on holding the ball as long as possible and beating people to death....not working right now, even more than UK alumni UCLA boosters can provide the under the radar cash to players/family and NCAA and then probably blame it on us.
He'd be a good catch for Cal fit the system perfectly.
Poythress - smooth as silk period, terrific at UK and built to be a defensive knightmare for a three or two.
Goodwin- a player very quick, all of thes kids can really play, I believe UK will have to do a lot of due dilligence becuase if they get Shabazz and/or Bennet rats will be coming out of the wood work to once again tear at us, in particular if no 8 is hanging.
PVO its great to be a Wildcat BBall Fan
I want to make a comment about Dajuan Coleman - reminds me a lot of Renardo Sydney, I'll be curious to see if whiney Boheim will get 30 pounds off of him, right now he obviously has talent but hes very slow, he'll do ok but he could elevate his came with some descent conditioning. 2-3 zone should work well for him he won't have to move defensively much.

Just got to watch part of the second half...but I DVR'd it. I have liked Poythress for a long time. He will be a star at UK. Goodwin impressed as well, and will get minutes next year.
I really like the guys Calipari has focused in on. Shabazz is just as advertised... A multi position player, with tremendous skill set. Bennett is a very polished player with good size and skill.
Nerlins Noel, didn't play but I have seen a couple of games he has played. Excellent player that will start from Day one.
The future is bright...what a time to be a UK fan!

That's the best I've seen Bazz play. Looked like a superstar. I hope we get him. Poythress was excellent. Better than advertised as was Goodwin.
I liked Bennett, too.
We will be right back in the hunt for a title next year. I stole RR's line while arguing with an Alabama fan at the Sunday game. he kept saying this was Calipari's best shot at winning a title. I said, "yeah, till next year!".

It really takes skill to spot not only talent, but guys that can play on the big stage, and commit to play team ball. Calipari has really impressed me with his coaching ability.
I think Shabazz will be a monster at UK. I think he will play the 2 guard in Cal's system. He will be the finisher around the rim we haven't seen from a guard since John Wall.
I have penned Poythress as a starter. He's way too skilled to stay out of the line up...he will be a fine replacement for either Jones at the 4,but if we get Bennett,he could move to the 3.

Imagine this line up...
PG Teague(hopefully) SG Shabazz SF Poythress PF Bennett C Noel
First 4 off the Bench... Wiltjer,Goodwin,Harrow,Cauley.
This could be Cal's most versatile team ever. So many combinations Cal could play in any situation, with minimal drop off... Shabazz can play positions 1-3. Poyrhress and Bennett can play 3-4,goodwin can play point or SG. Wiltjer can play 3-5.These are just a few examples. This team would be tough to guard, and a defensive nightmare

A little help here please. Who do we have COMMITTED AND SIGNED already for next year? I realize there are several "strong hopefuls" like Shabazz, but who is signed, sealed and delivered already.
Thanks.
Goooo CATS!!!!

I know he is on the team right now, but you could add Harrow to that list of players. Alot of people were raving about him last summer.

Harrow is better than any point guard in the 2012 class.

I thought it was interesting that the postgame interview only had Shabazz, Goodwin and Poythress. I know that those 3 stood out head and shoulders above the others, but Cal can find the ones that are good no matter what the ranking.

I finally got around to watching the McDonalds game on the DVR last night for the first time. In my opinion, the best player on the court was Alex Poythress. Compared to most of the other bigs in that game, Poythress is so much more athletic and skilled it is not even close. I know Poythress is not quite as tall as guys like Ridley and Austin, but he has a great body and could guard them. He is very versatile and is going to be a badass for UK.
Shabazz also looks like a future pro out there. I get a bit concerned that he doesn't seem to interact well with his teammates, either on the court or off of it. But, that is why Cal gets paid the big bucks.
Sulaimon who is going to Duke, Bennett, and Goodwin also caught my eye.
Basically, everyone UK is interested in looked really good. #th_thumbup#

^^ oh, and the only tiny criticism I would have of Poythress is that he tends to want to just stand around the top of the key too often when his team is on offense. Reminds me of how Terrence Jones wanted to stand out there too often when he was coming out of high school. That will get worked out in short order. Thing is, I think Poythress can put the ball on the floor and explode by guys to the rim better than Jones. I am super high on him after watching that game.

He has all the tools, and after watching him last summer and a couple times during the year, I knew he was way under rated. He proves it next year IMHO.
