I always refuse to blow off ammo, I figure "why shoot unless I have to"..lol It took me two weeks once just to get 2 boxes of .22 shorts, and as far as blowing off my 12 gauge pump shotgun. I hope I never have to do that, because it would mean some idiot is trying to get in my house, and he made it. In my younger days, I once was in charge of the base shooting range (and ammo), so Uncle Sam paid for everything while I had unlimited free shooting. LOL Even then, I didn't consider myself any better than a good shot. But if you think you might ever need to use either of your weapons, shoot enough that you can be confident with both handling it and hitting what you aim at. I used to shoot every day when I was young. There was a lot of wooded area where I lived. I have no doubt if someone broke in here that they would be so full of buckshot they would need a steel stretcher to get em outta here. During the civil war they used to say ready......aim.....level. Many think it was Ready....aim....fire.........I learned that on Pawn Stars....Good show. I hear what you are saying, but its like riding a bicycle. I got one in a storage unit a while back and I got on it and rode around the storage facility and made some folks laugh....lol. Around here, there's nowhere to shoot anyway, so if I ever fire a weapon again, it will be inside my house.....I'm hoping I never fire a gun ever again, but.....I'll go Rambo if need be. Would I hit my target.......yep. Thats my stance and I'm sticking to it.

I think me and RR should be the only ones allowed to have guns. Anyone else would have to apply to either RR or myself and pay a substantial fee. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Ill challenge either one of you two to a shootout.. Lol that would a ton of fun, badge. 15 feet--25 feet--50 feet---100 feet we each can choose our own weapon for each distance!! I would love to have a "shoot-out"--at TARGETS!! No need hurting a fellow DD/UK advocate. rr

For whatever reason, not all of us (including me) can shoot as often as we should. If I were doing Badge's job, I would shoot at every opportunity and I'd be making opportunities.

A policeman probably goes to a gun range and practices. I'm sure if I had employment that had me carrying a firearm I would be shooting regularly too. I dont go as many places as I used to, being that I can only see out of one eye properly. Thats probably why I can only see half of the storage units I end up getting hung with...lol...Just kidding. Luckily, my dominant eye is not the one that has a partial retinal detachment, so its all good. I'm just riding without a spare.......lol

Them bullets cost $$$$!! Honestly, most agencies need to practice their verbal skills more than their shooting skills!!

Guys rarely wanted to shoot other than what was necessary to remain qualified. Very seldom did anyone ask to use the range. I got pretty good with an M-60 though as there were many thousands of H%I rounds fired every night. Now days, like Katman, I like a shotgun. LOL It's harder to miss.

I like the shotgun because of the sound it makes when you KER-CHUCK a shell into the chamber. Not only that, they tend to spray a bit and like you say, its harder to miss.

50 yards with a handgun? Hells bells. I'd need a target as big as a trash can lid to be very accurate from that distance.

LASERS and red dots and scopes make shooting easy!!
shooting without the "add ons" is a little more difficult.

I got back into it a few years ago when Jan wanted a CC permit. She had zero experience. We both chose snubbies, easy to carry. She chose the laser sight, and I didn't. I figure if need be, I can hit a man reasonably close and she might not, so it was probably good for her. For me, I'd rather a potential enemy not see the laser in the dark.

I will not get a conceal carry permit. I will not buy any firearm from anyone except private individuals. The less everyone knows about my guns, the better.
