Funny most of my democrat friends say I am really a hard line conservative claiming to be a centrist. LMAO how people that strongly believe in a political agenda find anyone that doesn't think like they do as hard line onme way or the other. if you want to know where i stand on major issues let's digress A. I am anti abortion in most cases - except for rape, incest, if it's know the child will be severly debilitated, or it might harm the mother -- even then in those cases I am not really for the abortion but I am for the choice. B. Military - I absolutley support a strong military if for nothing else thats all we got really backing up out money - only a fool wouldn't be - but I am very much in agreement with Rand Paul that we need to stop being the worlds police and only use our military on issues that directly effect out national security. hence I was anti Iraq war , but very pro wiping out ISIS and war if needed with Iran. C. Gay marriage - I am 100% against it - as that is a sacred insitution from the start of time and it's only been between a man and a woman throughout 6000 years. D. Guns - I am against the owenership of hand guns by the public. Look at the stats that show how many times a hand gun has saved a person life as opposed to accidents and just being stupid. Rifles for hunting - fine . At the very least IMO a 1 year waiting period to own a hand gun where the ownerwould have to go through schooling at his own expense on how to handle and prevent accidents. Any "protection" a gun can give a person at home ... moneyis much better spent on a great home alarm system. E. Taxes - The one thing I love about Trump is everyone that makes under 65K a year pays nothing in taxes. Tax cuts for everyone making 65-150K a year Tax the rich 10% more but give alot of tax breaks for creating jobs. This is the one thing I like about Trump and I agree with - its the part that he is a narcissistic psycho that gets to me. F. Education - This is something that really bothers me. Living in Chicago you see the true extremes how people in the suburbs get great education and people in the poorer areas get awful education. A senior in HS in a ghetto on average learns on the same level as a 8th grader in the subs -- that is disgusting how the education has gotten this awful. Give all kids an equal shot. G. Healthcare -- this is where yes I am left wing as yes I very much believe in single payer health care and that the water down HC system known as Obamacare did not go nearly far enough. just a sample -- but then again I like to think for myself and not let a political party dictate what I think |

Streeter, I don't have time for a long argument, so I'm just going to address guns. Not everyone has the money to buy an expensive alarm system or lives in an area where police respond quickly and efficiently. Admittedly I have experience that most people don't, but I'd rather depend upon myself for security than the police. Sure I appreciate whatever help they give, but I am my first line of defense. I mentioned MAIG in a post the other day. Who gets the permits in a place like NYC? Don't answer theoretically. Answer in reality.

More bad happens then good in general from people that own hand guns ... while I will never be for owning them I can accept it as long as there is a long waiting period where s person needs schooling and to pass a safety exam ... a difficult one both on how to handle safely and to keep out of the hands of children , etc.. or do you think people should just be able to go to a gun show and grab a gun?

...you post this to me knowing that I had spent over 22 years of my life in uniform?....you sure be some piece of work, and one that I might add, is in standing with the staunchest liberals...chris Matthews and co. would be proud of you...

I have a strong military background in security, self defense, and firearms training, but after reading requirements for a NYC carry permit, I doubt I could get a permit. It reads like only an elite few qualify. I'm concerned for the poor folks in poor neighborhoods. |

Can people barely getting by afford the cost of a year of school or do the tax payers pay for it? so you're saying you are against people having to attend a year of classes for gun safety to be able to own a gun. To you because it might cost a bit of money. .. scrwe it you pass a check here go have blast with your new glock. Tell that story ty o all the parents who have lost kids to guns in the home, people shot by mistake... or accidentally shooting tbemselves. |
