www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401484570Last 3 gsmes have looked like a new squad. That is a mini streak. Beat Vsndy then KU were right there where we need to be. So etching I didn't think I would say . Simply sitting g Wheeler has turned us from a NIT squad to a potential top 4 seed when said n done if if if trends continue. Actually as shit as I given Cal he actually did well last 2 gsmes at halftime. Right now just glad the season is over yet an were looking a lot better

Like streeter i don't want to get too giddy over this admittedly nice little change two of the wins were against a&m and georgia but what it did show was some teamwork and grit and while wallace still makes brain fart his don't stink as bad as wheeler and he doesn't have to be dominant with the ball. We see reece as much more confident Livingston too we have a short rotation now i don't want any longer fact is wallace goes out let frederick and reece share the point. We still have good chemistry and three scorers on the floor.
The great Adolph Rupp once said you need defense when your offense isn't working we are starting to get both and kids that are unselfish maybe we end the season on a bit of a run. I think the vandy game is important we play there and even our great teams have trouble. But next saturday is big big at home sgainst the jayhockers i view it as a must win for this teams resume if we manage that it will show real progress.
GOOD WIN TODAY THOUGH

Wheels played 8 minutes - that’s about right.
We threw up 32 3-point attempts and made 1/3 of them. That was the difference in a very physical inside game. They weren’t going to let Oscar beat them - doubled and tripled (and fouled) him all game. But he still got his 17 rebounds.
Toppin has had 3 good games in a row.
CJ keeps firing shots - I’m gathering Fatboy is now willing to live or die by the 3.

We have enough shooters to pull it off, until the last game of the year where they wont be able to hit the ocean on a boat.

Toppin "Manned Up" yesterday. He was hobbled after one of many TACKLES by the TaM team, but Toppin came back limping and played thru it, and contributed. Toppin starting to play the way many expected him to play. Collins is out of the rotation, thus Toppin can relax and do his thing.
collins is out. Too weak and easily shoved aside, can't hit a shot outside 2 feet.--babywheels has been outed as the drag he is on both ends of the floor. EFFICIENCY on both ends soars when babywheels is on the bench.
Fredrick and Reeves cause teams a nightmare when Wallace is at point. 3 outside threats, and OSCAR in the middle. zebras are letting thugs continue to mug, hold, push and pound on Oscar--and call ticky tack shat on him. zebras are a major part of the excrement that slimes and stenches the b'ball courts of basketball--at all levels.
Reeves is playing HIS WAY--aggressive going to the hoop with pull ups, and taking any and all open looks from 3. A real scoring threat all over the court. wallace can defend and hit open looks--and he gets others involved.
Livingston also brings a threat from outside--and he is not fearful of contact.
Ware is WARE---plays hard and never backs down--can't hit a free throw and making shots is not part of his game. WARE should be the jungle Jim Loscutoff for the cats. An enforcer, a hatchet man, one willing to take thugs like the biggun of Tam, and undercut the bastard when he goes up for shot. Simply "trip" and cut out the legs of the thugs when up for a rebound or shot--send a message a few times.
Tam was DIRTY, and allowed to do so throughout the game. zebras ignored the thuggery and it escalated as the game wore on. Fouls a the hoop became TACKLES and mostly ignored.
The sad part is the lack of minutes for THIERO!! He can play many slots and contribute--but babywheels with 8 minutes is the right choice.
Sadly--it took fatboy begok more than half a season to recognize what all honest UK fans saw after a few games--a solid core of Oscar, Toppin, Wallace, Reeves, Fredrick and Livingston provides the efficiency and inside/outside threats required to win in the modern age. Now, get some emaningful minutes for Thiero and the proper 7 man rotation with a few minutes for Ware to rest Oscar and the TEAM is ready for action. Toss in babywheels now and again to rest wallace--but only a few minutes here and there.
And--teach a ZONE to use sparingly but for disruption.
If only begok the dumb would make that last change and put in a 1-3-1 trapping zone!!

Great post RR my only my only mild disagreement is the 1-3-1 but then im not a coach i can see that with a defender like wallaxe at poimt and our lenggth on wings it could cause issues but 1-3-1 or 2-3 aint happeming under cal

Cal is still coach. He couldn’t win a championship with team USA. This will fall apart soon enough.

My guess is he's going to win just enough to keep the wolves at bay this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start slowly giving Wheels more minutes and it will cost UK a couple of games. I would expect them to beat a short-handed Vandy team, but it will be interesting to see how effective they are against a Kansas team that just got waxed by 23 by TCU. Going to be an interesting week. Let me know how it goes....

Wallace at the top of the 1-3-1 provides a long armed impediment to easy passes. A replay of the 1966 "runts" would be excitin. Pressure zone with traps and forced errors by foes.
sadly, begok has no idea what a zone defense is. That is why he has teams incapable of attacking and defeating a zone. Think west virginia with Cousins, Patterson, Wall, Bledsoe, Orton and others.

The biggest obstacle to this teams success has a severe knee problem as a side issue to being a terrible bench coach. John Robic where are you?

..cow won't install the very defense that beat the John Wall team in his repertoire...his ego won't let him....he can't teach a 2-3 zone, much less a 1-3-1...JMO...
..gonna be a big game we need, we will have an 8-10 pt lead, and cow will put Wheeler in and we'll lose the lead and momentum...jmo...
..we need the continued rise of Reeves and Toppin to happen each and every game to compete down the road and even be selected for March Madness....and for Wheeler to sit!...
