I thought Kyle Wiltjer gave us some good minutes in the first half when MKG was in foul trouble. He hit a 3 when we needed a bucket, he got a steal and led the fast break and dished to Lamb to send him to the foul line, he took a shot and followed up his miss to score another bucket. Grabbed an offensive rebound. Gave up a bucket or two in the post, but overall did enough on defense to earn his keep.
Like Cal has said, he is on a slower timeline than the 1 and done guys, but he is going to be a really good player for us down the road.

He has areas that need work, but he has areas that are excellent, including his shot. When he's open on a 3, I'm surprised when the ball doesn't go in the basket.

I believe we will all be pleasantly shocked to see the improvement in Kyle Wiltjer's overall game next season. The kid can really shoot it, and has great offensive skills. But the improvement we will see is in the development of his body, quickeness and defense. He is exaclty what this team needs, a three to four year player that can really play.

Can he shoot yes -- can he play D consistently - no. He is being recruited over and will be the 6th or 7th man next season. I would be surprised if he didn't at least think about trasnsfering after recruiting ends.

I don't think Cal is recruiting over Wiltjer, but in order to get minutes, Wiltjer is going to have to put the time in to becoming stronger, and a better defensive player. If he does that, he will get significant minutes.

We get Bazz - Bennett - Noel
where does Wiltjer fit in
Teague I can't see going pro
Lamb and TJ would be better staying they wont
So Teage / Harrow at point Goodwinn /Harrow at SG Bazz / Proth / Wiltjer AT 3 Bennett . Proth / Wiljer at 4 Noel . Cauley at 5
Wiltjer might get less minutes next year

The one thing that this lineup may have a deficiency in next year is shooting the ball. Shooting from 3 is not a strength for either Shabazz or Goodwin, as far as I have read. But guess who can shoot the lights out of the ball - Kyle.
And I am not feeling like we get Bennett now.

My feeling exactly, there's always room for a shooter, and kyle wiltjer is our best long range shooter. Cal has said over and over how much he loves the kid, and I believe wiltjer will put the time in this off season to work on his body to get stronger, and to improve on the defensive side of the ball. He does that, and I believe as rr says, wiltjer gets 20 min or more per game.

Kyle is a PLAYER!!
The strength training and conditioning over the summer will hone away his present shortcomings.
He will be a Wildcat to remember!
GOOOOO CATS!!!!
