UCLA pushed us to 3 in the recruiting rankings Who gives a shit. UCLA is still a shit hole and we will still have a better team than them next year.

I really do think that next season we'll see that there was NO way shabazz could have been a " real team" player...IMO, he'll be a ball hog at ucla.

Last I checked we didn't get trophy's for the 3 straight #1 recruiting classes we had. Are those new this year?
And I don't think they have passed us. Howland doesn't run a tight ship and those kids are gonna play nothing but street ball.

I have posted several times that Bazz has a really good motor, similar to MKG, but he is no MKG. I have also said many times that the number and type of shots that he takes makes me hesitant. I think he was worth the risk, but I am not crying that we didn't get him. I have seen Alex Poythress play and he is every bit as good and probably has a higher ceiling.
As long as we can bring in 2 bigs we will still be great next season. Noel, Bennet, Jefferson and Oriakhi are our best bets now. If we get any two we will be in really great shape. Harrow was a 5 star player and will be in his 3rd year at point guard. 5 star at SG with Goodwin. 5 Star at small forward with Alex Poythress. We have a 5 star PF in Wilter and a 4 star center in Willie Caulie-Stein.
That is a pretty good team. Easily top 10. Now add 2 5-star players. Noel gives us a definite lottery pick and shot block presence. We get him and we are sitting pretty and will be as deep as we were this year. If we get him and Oriakhi then we are awesome. If miss on both of them, and get Bennett, then we are still awesome. If we miss on Bennett and get Jefferson then we are still awesome.
As long as we pick up at least 1 more 5 star player we are going to still be AWESOME. WE are UK! PVO!!!

Shabazz has to know that Cal would make him play D and he don't do that very well. Let him rot on the west coast next year and we'll hang #9 in spite of his 25 a game. He probably knows he wouldn't get that here anyway. Jones and MKG and Davis could have scored 25 a night and we'd still be waiting for our 8th championship.

I hope Shabazz gets where he wants to go. No sour grapes here.
I do not stress about recruiting...Cal has a tight grip there. I would love to get Noel, Bennett, Oriakhi. Personally, I would love to have a shooter next year to go along with that front line. Maybe Goodwin...definitely Wiltjer can shoot. But, a knock down perimeter shooter with the front line and we will be in a good position for #9.

bazz and Alex played the same position anyway and Alex plays D -- maybe Bazz is better but I am happy with Alex as the SF

To be honest, I don't think playing defense was what turned Bazz off. Actually, I think he plays pretty good defense. However, I do believe that he saw MKG getting the lowest or next to lowest number of shots/game and I think that was probably what tipped the scales. he wants the ball, he wants to shoot and he wants to shoot often. He's good, but that doesn't create a brothers attitude with teammates.
This is one of the reasons I love AD and MKG (and DM, DL, and MT). They were willing to pass on individual glory for ultimate glory as a team by not taking a disproportionate number of shots.
I'm sure Bazz will score 20 points a game at UCLA but he will have to take too many shots to accomplish it.

Check out these tweets about Bazz and Adidas:
Jeff Goodmanþ Adidas, um I mean UCLA, wins the Shabazz Muhammad Sweepstakes. Shabazz stayed loyal to adidas entire way
@garyparrishcbs Would be naive to suggest adidas didn't play a role in Shabazz's decision - and just as silly to pretend Nike doesn't also do it every year.

No team player = no UK player - good luck out on the left coast - maybe next year UCLA might make the tournament (bets on NIT or NCAA)....

Maybe we dodged a bullet here guys. Kid had some baggage. I can't recall a player where the NCAA told the schools recruiting him there might be issues.
