So--we got #8--and #9 is just around the corner--hope that block is a short one. Based on very LIMITED evaluation of some incoming and present players--I'll give it a go and make some wacko and "WILD" comparisons to past GREATS;
*Noel--Bill Russell---major defender--offensively challenged--a FORCE *Poythress--Bernard King--smooth--shooter--tough--effortless-GREAT *Wiltjer--Bob Pettit--smooth--consistent--shooter--scorer *Goodwin---Derek Anderson--active--slasher--SCORER *Harrow--Guy Rogers--crafty lefty--winner--hard to the hoop--finisher *Cauley--Walter McCarty--long--smooth--needs work--winner
*Bennett---Cornbread Maxwell---long arms--all over the floor--
WE ARE--#1!!!!!

I'm glad someone has a positive outlook on next year. We have the #1 recruiting class coming in again. I think we can hang #9 next year, especially if Indiana & loserville are 2 of the top 3 teams.

My outlook on next year is positive as a peach. If I had a gun to my head and had to pick ONE team that I thought would win the national championship next year, I would pick Kentucky. Period. The End. Is that positive enough?

Let me add this -- after we lost in the Elite 8 in 2010, the majority of this board was all "WOE IS ME" about our team the next year. That was before we understood that Calipari reloads like a machine gun. I remember saying that we would reload and be great again and people thought I was a biased dumbass. Lo and behold, we were in the Final Four.
And consider this - I start polls before every year asking all DD members what they thought our record would be this year. I will go ahead and say that I did not get many responses that said 16-0 in the SEC and 38-2 overall. If someone had said that, they would have been looked at by the handwringers as a biased dumbass too. Well guess what, it happened.
Next year, the handwringing crowd is just going to have to accept something, cause it's gonna happen: Kentucky is going to KICK A WHOLE LOT OF ASS.
You simply do not field a team that includes two megastars in Nerlens Noel and Alex Poythress, with other extremely talented players, coached by John Calipari, and not be in the thick of the hunt for a national championship.
Come October, we will be the top favorite in Vegas to win it all. Others will be up there close, but Kentucky will be the favorite. And that's because we have the BEST chance to go out there and kick everyone's ass! ;D

I don't doubt Cal.....he has proven over and over that he can assemble a team of very talented players and get them to buy in....the hand wringers need to take a Xanax...lol

Next year's players will be similar to this years...
Noel - Davis Jones - Bennett MKG - Poythress Lamb/Miller - Goodwin Teague- Harrow
The teams are similar...not a carbon copy....Wiltjer will come off the bench and get minutes,and Cauley will be an upgrade from Vargas. I think we are poised to make another run.... Will we go into the tourney with only 2 losses? Probably not,but we will be in the mix for a title...if these guys buy in like this year's team,we very well could have the same dominate team again....PVO!!

I think Cal can get 2 or 3 more players. He can develop them. Wiltcher will never start at UK until he can crash the boards. We need to stop thinking Tubby type players will ever be good at UK ever again.

We need to stop thinking Tubby type players will ever be good at UK ever again. Where can I start with this? First off, Wiltjer a "Tubby type player"? Thats a load of crap....Second off...Tubby never recruited and coached ANYONE that played in a final 4 game, Wiltjer helped in a final 4 game. That alone seperates him from any Tubby player. Wiltjer is a 5 star freshman, not in the mode of Jones or Davis obviously but he is a great player. He would have been the kingpin to a Tubby class and then Tubby would have hooked him to a plow and sucked any confidence out of him. Wiltjer will be great and I am extremely glad we have him. I agree with you Katman. Wiltjer is a 5 star McDonalds All American. How many of those did Tubby get in an entire decade? I can't wait to watch him develop as a player at UK.
