My goodness, imagine this team with Lamb and MKG. They might not even play the tourney - just hand the trophy over.

If MKG and Lamb stay and with only the players we have recruited, we will win #9 next year. If MKG and Lamb leave UK, we will not win #9, no matter who else we recruit. Not only the talents of MKG and Lamb are important but the experience, maturity and leadership qualities are extremely valuable.

^^^^^^This
Experience and leadership are mandatory. 2010 and 11 proved that.

We have 4 really good players that I believe that you can count on. I'm just not including Wiltjer since he cannot guard a wet noodle and is such a liability on the defensive end.
I eo not expect great things for next year if we do not retain some players or land more guys.
When we get into foul trouble, which we will, we are in sone deep trouble. We have Hood and Beckham to spell our guys in the back court. Does that make you feel good? Not me.

Does anyone think Bennett comes if MKG stays..? I may be the only one here that thinks we will struggle next year with no returnees besides wiltjer and Hood and Beckham, but I dont see why not...we have FOUR unused schlorships. Just because you have somting doesn't mean you use it. If you have 20 bucks do you necessairily spend it? Cal is not one to give kids scholly's unless he feels they can play. Filling your bench with 2 and three stars only means you have averages butts on the bench to help gather splinters. They wont' get reps they won't get playing time. He can use the scholly's to his advantage, have availibility to a great transfer etc. We'll struggle all the way to no. 9 next year probably only win 35-36 games, damn that'd be terrible. I'll go you one more...how deep did Cal go in 2010? Eight...results? How deep last year 7 at most...results How deep this year 7? results? He uses a very short rotation, he believes in playing the kids that can produce. Its a waste of money, time, training, and personnel to let kids sit on the bench under scholarship. They won't play, they won't be happy, unhappy players lead to discontent, discontent leads to discord and locker room lawyers. You ever wonder why Cal gets the results he does from these admitedly talented players? They are young, he lets them play, he gives goals, provides the tools, and they learn and thrive, they make mistakes but they progress quickly because they play and are put in the situations. By years end the young players understood what was needed and could produce. You don't play you don't do that except in very rare cases. Worry all you want, I for one think Cal has it under control.

Houstoncat, I think you are really on to something here. I want to expand on what you were saying about not using all the ships. If Cal used them all, we would have more players with less playing time. This can lead to players being unhappy. And it can also lead to more parents (unhappy) causing trouble. Remember Larry Orton? I will admit, at first with Cal, I was worried about depth problems. But then I realized that Cal has it, for the most part figured out, and is truly light years ahead of us. So in short, by limiting the ships, and making it an exclusive club; he has cut out a lot of trouble or turmoil. PVO! Go Cats!

After the guys announce,if all 5 are gone,i say we will get Bennett and Jefferson and a guard..Cal will not leave us that short handed.. I think he will fill some uniforms, but today Katman's question is legitimate.. I hope you are right about the players above.. Buck, youi seem to always be waiting for any excuse to jump on the anti Cal bandwagon. Maybe that's not the case, but it sure seems that way to me. Let's see, I think Cal's record here is 102-14. 86% winning %. In 3 years we have an Elite 8, two final fours and an NC. Hasn't lost in Rupp Arena. Already sent 8 guys into the NBA first round, not counting this year's group. 4th straight year of the numbver 1 recruiting class in the Nation. Clearly he has to change things. This ain't working!! #th_laff#
