The panic is worse than the disease. No confidence in leadership just fuels the panic.

To be fair confidence iin leadership is largely manufactured . Theres a biill in the house to prevent a president from blocking entry into the country while we dont know the extent of the infection it would have been far worse if he didnt ban travel from china he was called xenophobic at the time but italy didn't do it nor did the eu or iran for that matter. That choice was very correct. He did did that after consulting the cdc he continues to follow the cdc guidelines. All that aside what could have been done different to change or improve the current course of action?

No one in their right mind blames trump for the virus. But this is a time for leadership in the face of panic about it and trump has failed miserably to lead. He can't "fake news" this one away so he has no plan B.

How can anyone have confidence in leadership right now when this administration has had 2 months to prepare and still dont have any Test kits. You get rid of the panic by testing ...... but Trump goes on a month long victory lap patting himself on back for restricting travel to China a little early. Instead of doing the most important things like getting test kits and preparing hospitals. We have less test kits an people tested than most countries in Europe n are hospitals no matter who Trumpers want to parade in fro t of cameras are woefully under prepared.

I do care about being fair I personally don't think Trump should be blamed for the virus in any shape manner or form, he didn't create it, he could do nothing about how china handled it or let information out concerning it. He had a good first step by the ban on incoming travel from China well ahead of the world or even congress wanting him too. Like all things he is subject to criticism on some parts of the handling of the issue. What are those areas of criticism you think merit?
Now from my POV he could and should have made sure that the CDC procedures for distributing tests kits were adjusted for the large numbers needed. He didn't whether he was told or not. That's a failure. I'm mainly interested in what everyone thinks he should have done or other things he could do ..What did he do different that was a negative or positive from the swine flu (h1n1) pandemic in 2009? What would you(being anyone that responds to the thread) do different? Biggest complaint I hear is he isn't concerned about keeping us safe, what should he do to do that?
The only thing I see from government (both sides) is wash hands frequently, stay away from large crowds, if your sick stay home. stay 6 feet away from each other, don't eat bats, koala bears, snakes and other exotic food (alright had to add some levity as for the most part folks in this country wouldn't do that). Normal smart stuff to do.
What I am interested in is a reasonable expectation of some sort of vaccine being released. Will we undergo the normal trials for that or will it be accelerated? Are therapeutics to ease the symptoms if you have it being developed (theraflu is an example)? What is the half life of the virus..if there is a big enough database when you shed it and get it again, is it as severe the second time or are antigens developed in your immune system to help. How many folks get it again.
I'd like to see updated stats on those with the virus (as more testing is done this is going to increase I am sure), those that pass and the bell curve on their ages, and those that have recovered. This might be high when first put out because the database is still quite small. I'd also like to see Congress quit playing politics with this both sides it ain't a political problem. Deal with the issue not ancillary issues or hates. The presidential candidates can say what they want its an election and among the candidates its fair game to criticize as long as the facts are true from challenger and the President.
I'd also like to see when its all over a forensic of the market loss, who made money why did they cause the crash?
My guess on what is going on now will only last a couple of weeks before the general American public will give a Big FU and go about their lives regardless of if they think they will contract the virus or not. The public doesn't like to be confined and have restrictions. For the most part Americans do not like to be told what to do, how to live, and where we can go. Another thing that is going to have to be rethink, sick leave, right now many companies require you to take a vacation day for a sick day even for enforced quarantines, for many jobs there is only so much you can do from home. After your vacation is up you might be able to get on STD but that is subject to review. No way the gubment can supplement that time of not enough money Companies are going to be required to rethink sick leave I betcha that will raise costs and before anyone goes off on it I think we should all have at least 7 sick days a year for illness, doctor visits etc. Using ones vacation just isn't right.
When its over this whole thing has fundamentally changed how we have to live our lives, was it really necessary i.e. does the virus itself merit this type of change and result
BTW Streeter I just saw where 10 labs in Texas can test 143 people a day...in a word that sucks, frikking S. Korea does 20,000 a day..why is that except distribution or bureaucratic incompetence? Administration has to answer for that or provide a remedy and damn quick.

I didn't immediately go on the attack or on any attack at all. But you have constantly made excuses for Trump. When he bribed another country to dig up dirt on Biden you made every excuse in the world. It's when someone says, "let's not make this political". They always go straight to politics. Here you said leadership is "largely manufactured" and then went into defense of Trump. I've got news for you, Trump bungled this thing from the start. He's enabled the panic. And his presidential spokes excuse maker, Faux News, is still leading the charge with false info. Then you have idiots like katman running around saying this was planned and the cure is already in storage.

To me the hype is more dangerous than the disease.
And we have no leadership in the White House so it’s spiraling out of control.
