Law professor Jonathan Turley weighs in on how “QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley “got the shaft” by having the government withhold exculpatory video proving he did not violently break into the Capitol on January 6th but remained peaceful and polite as cops escorted him around.
This footage was reportedly withheld from his attorneys, as the J6 Kangaroo Kommittee released only edited and cherry-picked excerpts designed to promote their narrative. He accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty because he was being treated shockingly harshly, like being held in solitary confinement, and wanted it to end. So they manufactured evidence, withheld exculpatory evidence, and coerced a guilty plea out of him. Somebody should be in a federal prison, but it doesn’t sound like it’s this guy.
And it gets worse: Elon Musk responded to Turley by posting video taken by another Trump supporter who’s facing prosecution, showing Chansley reading Trump’s tweet to the crowd and telling them to “obey our President,” do what he asks, and remain peaceful and “go home.”
