The more I learn and listen from Mark Pope the more I love this hire. He hasn't yet coached a game but I believe in my heart he is going to lead Kentucky Basketball to do great things.

The more I learn and listen from Mark Pope the more I love this hire. He hasn't yet coached a game but I believe in my heart he is going to lead Kentucky Basketball to do great things. I just watched Barnhart’s interview on Finebaum. I do believe he too is excited about what Pope brings to the court. It certainly looked like Finebaum is going to be closely watching how the Cats do. |

That was a fantastic interview. I like how Pope used the face time to declare that we (UK) are going to run an NBA modern offense. He is a relative unknown to many of the younger players. Even if they don't admit it publicly, the best players want an avenue to the NBA. If coach can market this and say it enough times, the recruits are going to start to believe it. Even begok had them convinced the BS he was running was "NBA" offense. I came away very impressed with Pope after watching this. Also, The Texas Tough had his faults, but I remember hearing he landed Patrick Patterson because they were impressed that he laid out a plan for everyday of the year. This kinda sounds like what Pope is trying to do. Give them a plan, and then work to achieve those goals. |
